Subject: BAPA will conduct Relief and Rehabilitation Program in the Cyclone
hit area ! Please help !!
Respected Sir/Madam
I would like to draw your kind attention towards the extensive damages to the
human lives and health, houses, crops, plants, forestry especially the
Sunderbans, roads, bridges, culverts, embankments and other smaller structures
of southern part of Bangladesh following the devastation of the strong cyclonic
storm called SIDR 10 days back. In addition to death of thousands of human
being, cattle, other animals and birds, innumerable number of people are now
completely devoid of any food, clothes, shelter, medical care. Lots of
people are staying just under the sky, few under the trees having some residual
leaves, some are spending their time in some open boats. Governmental
efforts under taken meanwhile are absolutely inadequate. Millions of people are
out of approach of the rescue teams leaving them extremely hungry, distressed !
Communicable and infectious water borne diseases are spreading among the victims
rapidly. Today's press report revealed that only 63 doctors are working for
about 17 lacs of population in a particular area. So an extensive human tragedy
of starvation and epidemics is clearly ahead !
In this context Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) has decided to take up a
Relief and Rehabilitation Program for the victims of Sidr. BAPA teams will reach
the mostly affected areas like Barguna and Sharankhola as early as possible. We
will help the victims in a full package including providing them some food,
clothes, utensils, items for re-construction of their damaged houses, medicines
for health problems etc. So we need everything to keep with us.
We are requesting the members, supporters and sympathizers of BAPA as well as
all the citizens of the country to extend your kind help towards the BAPA
Cyclone Relief and Rehabilitation Fund on urgent basis. We will welcome any sort
of help like money, dry foods, water bottles, clothes, medicines, etc. Members
of the BAPA Secretarial Team has offered cash Tk 5000 to 10, 000 each as the
initial contribution to this fund yesterday. Can't we sacrifice our upcoming Eid
Azha Budget for the victims now ?
I solicit your kind deposition of money and/or materials of any amount collected
from your own family, relatives, neighbors, colleagues and
friends to the BAPA Fund. Please use your personal influences to collect any
kind of helps in any amount and send to BAPA office at your earliest
